These birds are somewhat similar in their appearance, but very different in their behaviors. Anhingas have a long sharp pointed beak and stab their catch and spend more time tossing and turning their lunch before swallowing it. Cormorants have a curled over upper beak and forces this bird to grab and swallow quickly. The anhinga has a long neck and is nicknamed the "snake bird". Both swim under water to fish and then when they have made a catch bring it to the surface to eat it.
